MANGO MUSIC Trop-Rock meets the Blues Daytona and Key West veteran singer/songwriter Rick Steffen has treated audiences throughout the Florida Shoreline to his unique blend of island, blues, country, & pop sounds spanning a musical career of almost three decades. Unlike his country’s political presidential candidates, his tenure in the Tropical Music trenches is well documented. Now, his new CD “Mango Music” takes this musical style into a new genre worthy of the moniker, Caribbean Blues. With the help of the giant talents of: Guitarist, Clarence Weares from Trinidad & Jamaica, having played on reggae albums with Toots & Maytals, Sly & Robbie, Sparrow, Dennis Brown and Windjammer from world famous Ocean Deck fame @ Daytona Beach: Marty Stoneley - Horn, wind instruments, conch shell and more. Formerly with the Key West Survivors and Key West Reggae party. Featured horn player on Rick's song "Seafood" which was played on the "Today" TV show. Your key to organizing the Perfect Key West Wedding and reception. Bing Oliver - Bass & vocals , formerly with Caribbean Posse of present Ocean Deck fame (6 yrs) and lead vocals. The Ocean Deck was voted several years running as being one of the top Hot Spots in the U.S. by Playboy magazine. Mark Hodgson - Career Blues/Harmonica man/songwriter/singer/performer, with 6 Blues music CDs of his own, makes for a perfect compliment to this Caribbean Blues genre. Mark, a Daytona blues icon, harmonica man, and performer, is definitely a music feature to the band’s new direction. Lead vocals, songwriter and rhythm guitarist, Rick Steffen, Ringleader of the Lions, 3 CDs under his belt, Key West bubba (10 yrs.)(3 years @Pier House) (3 years @Casa Marina) (2 years @ Hyatt KW) and Songwriter/Arranger for the group, and Steve played the top resorts in Key West with the Infinite Tolerance Band and also did duo work there for 10 years. They were the featured act for Christmas and New Years 2004 at Margaritaville at Universal Studios Orlando. Offshore4 is doing some cover tunes but also a refreshing, danceable and entertaining selection of Originals and Modifications/Adaptations. Like Soca/Bahamian versions of Margaritaville, Ska versions of Do You Wanna Dance, Jambalaya, Dock of the Bay, Brown Eyed Girl, Summertime Blues, the Joker, and You Really Got Me. These island music adaptations are familiar and are more popular with a large variety of people including the Island Music aficionados.
