Harry S. Truman Little White House
While President Harry Truman was dealing with preserving America from threats such as the Cold War, he found peace and relaxation at the vacation home now known as The Harry S. Truman Little White House.
The Little White House does not sleep; it is open 365 days a year, with informative tours starting about every 20 minutes from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tour guides are equipped with exciting knowledge of the Truman administration, including personal glimpses into the life of Harry Truman, political insight into the Cold War era, and the Naval history of Key West.
Surrounding the Little White House is almost an acre of botanical gardens. Tours of the garden are self-guided, and you can pick up a brochure in the museum store to help you identify the tropical plants and foliage.
Occasionally the Little White House is still used for government functions. Therefore it can sometimes close unexpectedly for those occasions.
The Little White House celebrates historical, cultural and seasonal events. Visit the events calendar to see what's coming to the Little White House during your visit.
International visitors can get scripts in several languages, and translators receive free admission with groups of 6 or more visitors. Tickets are slightly less expensive online. Click here for tour group rates.
For up-to-date information on the Truman House, check out the Truman Little White House blog.
The Little White House is available for rental. The house can host weddings, house events or garden events. Any history buff would be thrilled to get married or throw a birthday party at President Truman's vacation home.
