Mallory Square: Daily Tours, Nightly Sunset Celebrations
Every night at sunset street performers, artists and tourists flock to Mallory Square for a festival. Tourists have been biking through Key West and downing mojitos all day, and the celebration at sunset is an island treat.
The Sunset Celebration is definitely a sight to see if you're in Key West. Get your palm read by psychics while you're sipping on a rum and coke in the other hand. Dogs dress up in silly costumes and people dress up as statues painted silver. The robot men definitely work hard to entertain tourists.
At the water's edge the sun is setting, and artists are painting while selling their work for a reasonable price. Crowds start to gather a few hours before sunset. Food vendors are on stand-by selling snacks.
The sunset on the Gulf of Mexico is the perfect way to end your day and begin your night. Most Mallory Square artisans require cash, and there are several ATMs around if you want to buy a sunset painting or decorative salt and pepper shakers.
During the day tours leave from Mallory Square frequently. Tourists love the Old Town Trolley Tours and the Conch Train Tours. Tours include history and culture of Key West, including Harry Truman's Little White House vacation home, the southernmost point and a military post.
Key West's culture includes Indians, pirates, the Civil War, literary genius, delicious food, six-toed cats and more.
